  • Family: Married to Marcus Bachmann in 1978. They have 5 children and have fostered 23 other children, all teenage girls.

  • Abortion: Bachmann has identified herself as strongly pro-life, which was shaped after suffering a miscarriage. She introduced a bill in the Minnesota legislature proposing a constitutional amendment restricting state funds for abortion.
  • Budget/Spending: Bachmann was one of the few in Congress who fervently opposed the debt ceiling increase. Be believes America should return to the Founders’ vision of smaller, smarter government within the enumerated powers laid out in the Constitution. She opposes a federal minimum wage.
  • Economy/Jobs: Bachmann feels that cutting spending, reducing taxes and tossing out the 3.8 million-word Internal Revenue Code so that companies can invest again is the way to create more jobs. She would also eliminate counterproductive regulations, repeal Obamacare and stop cap-and-trade.
  • Energy: Bachmann wants to lift the restraints that keep America from energy security. She will fight to increase access to the billions of barrels of oil and trillions of feet of natural gas on the Outer Continental Shelf and reverse Obama’s “permatorium” in the Gulf of Mexico. She would also stop the EPA’s cap-and-trade rules.
  • Foreign Policy: Bachmann states she would do whatever it takes to fulfill the federal government’s foremost responsibility under the Constitution: to keep you safe in an increasingly dangerous world. She would stand with our allies and stand tall against those who don’t share our values.
  • Guns: Bachmann believes in the 2nd Amendment rights. She voted for a national cross-state standard for concealed weapons and against gun registration in DC.
  • Health Care: Bachmann wants to repeal Obamacare and stabilize Medicare. She wants to unleash the power of medical innovation and personal choices. She will push for greater competition in the healthcare market.
  • Immigration: Bachmann is against amnesty. She voted against the DREAM Act, and has also stated that the current law does not need modification but proper enforcement.
  • Social Security: Bachmann has called for phasing out Social Security. She believes in keeping it for the people already in the system but weaning everybody else off.
